What happens when you sleep?
Go inside a sleeping brain and find out! Journey through the fantastic stages of sleep as you help Moe get a good night's rest. Collect resources for Moe's health and watch out for dangerous toxins that can disrupt their sleep. After you run, jump, fall and explore in each stage, you'll find yourself in the strangest world of all: the dreamscape.
Story synopsis and setting
The story begins right at the start screen: MOE rests in his bed with ELLE his stuffed plush toy, soon to fall asleep. Once the game starts, we go into his brain and see ELLE as his sleepy time helper, eager and excited to get things done. The sleeping mind is a beautiful jungle filled with neurotransmitters and memories, both healthy and unhealthy. As Elle, the player runs and jumps to ensure healthy brain functioning in Moe's brain.
Genre and Scope
- This side scrolling platformer on iOS slopes down through the four stages of sleep leading to REM dreaming.
- Each level consists of one cycle of the four stages and the REM state they unlock. This demo shows an example of the third stage within the first level. For this pitch, we abbreviate the game, demonstrating gameplay of one stage.
- The feeling and experience of Slumber is inspired by Monument Valley 2, Inside, and Journey.
Visual style
- 3D graphics in a 2.5D world
- Dark background accentuated with neon colors that shift in response to player actions.
- Clean art filled-in with complex, painterly textures embedded into surfaces with an unmoving plaid technique.
These surfaces are coated with various brain flora, including neuro-vines, glowing electric particles, and floating platforms.
